El DeBarge's New Upcoming Album

WTH BET Awards?!!!

Who else thought the BET Awards sloppily and unjustly 'honored' Prince last night? The horror I experienced while listening to Trey Songz murder "Purple Rain" is indescribable! Did pregnant Alicia Keys reallly climb and slither on top of that piano during her terrible, ersatz version of "Adore U"? Well, someone needed to do something since Beyonce wasn't there to wake us up?

Poor Prince! I was feeling his OMG what the hell are they doing to my music thoughts running through his head with every camera pan shot. Oh, he tried to control his own shudders of horror by graciously applauding every performer, but I saw them -- in his eyes and smirky smile that really said OMG, this is the future of soul music?! WTF! LOL!

The highlight for me was witnessing the return of El DeBarge to the stage. What a lovely voice he still has and his ability to hit the high notes is still flawless! Regardless of your hardships and circumstances, God's gifts within you will flow forth until you leave this earth.

El looked like Rudolph Valentino, Kid Creole, a better looking, taller Marc Anthony and Ricky Ricardo all rolled into one! What a treat!

It is saddening and unfortunate to realize that no young R&B/ Soul singers are ready to accept the torch our music pioneers blazed before us. There are no more Barry Whites to look forward to -- no Teddy Pendergrasses, no Barry Whites, Luther Vandrosses and definitely no Princes or Michael Jacksons waiting in the wings.

Where are the Barry Gordys and Quincy Jones' or other music moguls who know a thing or two about artist development?

Luckily, the music of our soul masters will live on forever, because this new crap the industry is producing does not qualify for such an honor.

Beyonce's Why Don't You Love Me?

In my head, I have defended Beyonce against attacks concerning her skimpy outfits and frenzied dance performances on stage and in videos. Now, however, I agree with critics that say she should put some clothes on -- at least sometimes. I am posting this new video of hers that TMZ is billing as her sexy, 50's housewife video, but as a woman, I don't always want to see all of that! Too much cleavage and butt cheek make me uncomfortable! What do you think?

Cool Song Download

Hello My Fellow Soul Vibers!

I was reviewing music for a new podcast episode when I ran across this one -- Tre & The Revelations version of "It's Too Late." They were just here for Little Rock's Blues on the River, but this song is more mellow and definitely fits the NeoSoul Rhythms vibe. Enjoy and post comments to tell me what you think of the song.

Erykah Badu's Window Seat Video

Erykah Badu is just being her eccentric, artistic self and I don't see anything wrong with this! Even if I were one of the actual bystanders, I still don't think I would have been moved by this public display of nudity. If a grown woman of three feels the need to walk butt naked down a busy street, then I have no problems with that.

Why? Because so much serious stuff is happening in the world. Do you realize a whole generation of young people are flunking school, on prescribed medication, killing and hurting each other with no remorse? Folks are unemployed; souls are lost and dying without hope; a 21 year-old boy jumped off the Empire State building...WTF?

I personally have dreams for my life that I want to fulfill with financial limits, so who cares if Ms. Badu gets butt assed naked in the street, considering the grand scheme of things?!

Police should have arrested her during the video shoot, not 'consider' public indecency charges afterward. And -- it's funny that none of the onlookers filed a complaint or called law enforcement right while it was happening.

Yoko Ono and John Lennon just about hunched each other in a bubble in the middle of the street and they are considered pop icons.

Someone needs to stand up for individuality and combat the 'groupthink' mentality that will lead the uneducated to once again try to lynch black folks or torch 'Negro" houses in the middle of the night...all riled up by Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and all the other ignorant, stupid, uneducated asses seeking to racially denigrate and defame our President who white folks voted for.

Focus people!
